Timing from ITV
I have always managed to avoid the Indian newspapers for their articles on Narain or F1 for that matter. I honestly think that there is no qualified reporter or paper to write a decent article about him, without hyping the whole thing up.
On the other hand Narain has not received too much appreciation from the European press. I kinda did not expect him to, given that he had not done so well.
Things have changed now. Google news at this time has 4 articles about Narain’s second outing with Williams and he has managed to be the second fastest among the testers and the fastest driver using a V8 (some teams are still using a restricted V10).
Pitpass.com says Montagny quickest, but Karthikeyan shines at Jerez
Crash.net has a little blurb about him and ITV has an article that says Karthikeyan stars at Jerez
It looks like things are working out for Narain.
Meanwhile, there is an intresting comment from Johnny Herbert the sporting relations manager for MF1 (Midland F1 formerly Jordan) over at Formula1.com.
Q: With Christijan Albers already confirmed and Tiago Monteiro nominated for the second seat, you look set to have two young, fast drivers, albeit with only a season’s experience each. As an ex-driver yourself, are you satisfied with the selection?
JH: We want to put out the best young drivers we can and this we seem to have in Christijan and soon we will have our second driver confirmed.
I am sorry, did he forget their primary drivers name or did he forget that they had confirmed Tiago as one of their drivers?
Given that they have been testing too many drivers at Jerez in the past week, maybe they changed their mind. It somehow looks like Narain is in a better position than Tiago.
