‘Inventor of the Year’ is an Indian American

Indian Americans have always been known as great doctors or amazing geeks. But R Bharath Rao, one of the senior directors of a division of Siemens Medical Solutions took the status to a whole new level by combiniing Patient Information with technology.

An Indian-American scientist has been named ‘Inventor of the Year’ for his pioneering work in developing a new system, which utilises data to improve patient care and clinical decisions.

R Bharat Rao, senior director of Engineering Research Development, Computer-Aided Diagnosis and Therapy Group at Siemens Medical Solutions, is one of 12 Siemens inventors to receive the award.

As much as I would like to congratulate Mr. Rao, I have and always will be worried that computers can never replace the human train of thought. Algorithms always have a chance of missing some information, I am sure that they tested this product very well, but I hope they use this as a backup to the doctors analogy.
