Ek Ajnabee - Its Man on Fire Ass Fu**ed

I never blog about movies, but this one is an exception.

A few months ago, I was catching up on some Indian Entertainment News and came across the new Amitabh movie Ek Ajnabee, this is supposed to be “loosely based” on Man on Fire.
I managed to order and watch On Demand Man On Fire about a year ago. The Movie was AMAZING. Denzel was awesome, the movie had amazing direction and even greater dialog.

This weekend I sat down with my roomies who were watching Ek Ajnabee. Firstly to call it “loosely based ” is as fair as calling Basmati Rice - American (Just coz someone got a patent). Scene by scene, dialog by dialog (except for the climax and those extra scenes of Amitabh and Arjun walking around) the film is exactly the same. You know what, I could care less.

But to take an amazing movie and to f**k it up so much, we in Indian Cinema, have reached a new low. The closest analogy I can give is to take a piece by Beethoven, give it to Annu Mallik and ask him to do it over.

If you get a chance, DO NOT watch the Hindi version, if you can’t resist, then please look at Man on Fire before you watch the pirated hindi version.

Hey Karthik,
I think Denzel is amazing, anything he does. Hehe. I even sat thru Training Day just to watch him.
Scathing comments on the Hindi version…did you watch ‘Crash’?

Well Denzel is amazing, If you have not, then take a look at Out Of Time. It did not do too well in the Box Office, but that was another great movie and of course Crimson Tide.

I have not had a chance to see Crash, I should.

Scathing comments, coz they took an awesome movie and screwed it over. I mean, if they adapted it to suit India completly, I would not have a problem, but they stopped halfway through and made a shabby movie.

Coming to India… End of August. Will keep you informed.

Denzel did a great job in “Man on Fire” as he always does. But that was not one of his better movies. The little girl, Dakota, was very annoying.

Santosh: Well I agree, Man on Fire was not the best Denzel movie.

And if you hated Dakota Fanning (I liked her), then you SHOULD check out the desi version. The kid in that is even more annoying.
