Williams confirms Alex Wurz for 2007

Two days after I predicted Mark Webber departing from WilliamsF1, it has happened.

Narain’s senior test partner Alexander Wurz has been selected to replace Mark Webber. Sir Frank Williams had chosen to not use the option on the Aussies’ contract and has chosen to replace him with Wurz at the end of the season.

This is good and bad for Narain Karthikeyan. Narain could now be the lead test driver and friday driver (I am thinking too much and I remember reading that F1 wanted to stop using Friday drivers). The bad news is that WilliamsF1 is not an option for Narain to find a race seat.

There is also interesting news that Jacques Villeneuve’s seat is being filled in by Robert Kubica. Narain could find himself a spot there, although the relationship between BMW and Williams has turned sour.
